“How Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 Shattered Records and Why It’s Finally Coming to Netflix!”

Starring Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva’s messenger in an extended cameo and headlined by Pankaj Tripathi as Lord Shiva’s devout follower, “OMG 2” premiered in theaters on August 11, alongside the action-drama “Gadar 2.” Despite facing tough competition from the Sunny Deol-starrer “Gadar 2,” Akshay Kumar’s film went on to gross over Rs 100 crore net in India.

Directed by Amit Rai, the movie centers around a middle-class father’s efforts to raise awareness about a highly sensitive yet crucial topic – sex education. It boldly addresses prevailing misconceptions while using satirical comedy to deliver its message. The film received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both critics and audiences.

Now, nearly two months after its theatrical release, “OMG 2” is set to stream on Netflix starting October 8. Netflix announced this exciting news on October 3 through their social media platforms, stating, “We have some fantastic news for you, and OMG, can you believe how excited we are? #OMG2 arrives on October 8, exclusively on Netflix.”

Sharing his thoughts on the film’s OTT release, Akshay Kumar said in a statement, “We are thrilled by the enthusiastic reception ‘OMG 2’ received in theaters! This story deserves to reach a global audience, and we are confident that with Netflix, we can share the film’s joy with entertainment enthusiasts around the world. We hope that our labor of love continues to spread happiness.”

Ajit Andhare, the COO of Viacom18 Studios and the film’s producer, added, “The journey of ‘OMG 2’ from the silver screen to Netflix marks an exhilarating transition into the global streaming arena. Our sequel has truly elevated the OMG franchise, seamlessly blending humor with thought-provoking content. With Netflix as our platform, we aim to share our passion project and continue spreading joy worldwide.”

In addition to Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, “OMG 2” also features Yami Gautam Dhar, Pavan Malhotra, Govind Namdev, Brijendra Kala, and Aarush Verma in pivotal roles.
