Bihar train accident: On Wednesday at 9:53 p.m., 21 coaches of the Northeast Express derailed close to Buxar in Bihar, tragically killing four people and injuring more than 60 others. A representative said that throughout the night, a rescue effort is taking place at the scene of the accident.

Manish Kumar, the superintendent of the Buxar Police, confirmed the deaths of the four passengers. in least 70 people have received medical attention in nearby hospitals, according to officials. People who have been seriously hurt have been sent to AIIMS Patna.

What the Minister of Railways Said

In response to the incident, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the derailment’s primary cause would be looked into. He also offered his sympathies to the families of those killed in the disaster.


All carriages have been inspected, he claimed, and all relief and evacuation measures have been finished.
On Wednesday morning at 7:40 AM, the 23-coach 12506 Northeast Express set out from Guwahati for the roughly 33-hour trip to Kamakhya, which is only six kilometers from Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal.

Involved Trains

At least 18 trains, including the Rajdhani Express, that were traveling between Delhi and Dibrugarh as a result of the accident have been rerouted.


“The train was running at normal speed when we suddenly heard a loud noise, and the train started shaking violently,” an eyewitness who witnessed the incident recalled. We hurried to the scene to investigate. The AC carriages were the most severely damaged, and we could see that the train had off the tracks. Hari Pathak, a local citizen, brought this up.


Locals are seen in television footage rushing to save passengers and assist them in exiting the derailed, overturned trains. A female passenger can be seen in the video being helped out of the coach by locals while she is in shock. On the scene, several police officers could be seen assisting passengers.

The Railway’s Comments

The train departed Buxar Station less than 30 minutes prior to the tragedy, and there was no scheduled stop at Raghunathpur Station, according to Birendra Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of the East Central Railway Zone.


Ambulances and medical personnel arrived on the scene as soon as relief efforts got underway.

Government of Bihar statement

Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, gave the disaster management and health agencies immediate orders to take action following the tragedy in order to enable the prompt relief of as many people as possible.


Yadav explained, “I have personally contacted the district administrators of Buxar and Bhojpur (Ara’s district headquarters), urging them to swiftly arrive at the accident scene and accelerate relief efforts.”

Railroad’s Alternative Plans

A railway official said that alternate plans had been made to get passengers who were stranded to their destinations. From Patna, a scratch rake was dispatched to transport passengers back. A makeshift rake with a layout resembling the initial train is called a scratch rake. Additionally, six buses were sent to the accident scene to transport passengers safely.


The official added that plans had been made for the railway passengers who were stranded to travel from Ara on a special train to their final destination.

Chief Minister of Assam’s response

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, said he had learned that the Northeast Express 12506 had off the tracks as it traveled from Anand Vihar to Kamakhya. He has made touch with regional authorities and other agencies and is keeping a careful eye on the issue.

Local Government in Action

Medical teams have been dispatched to the spot, according to Inspector of the Railway Police Force Deepak Kumar, and the district government has informed the nearby hospitals in Buxar city.
